Sharp AQUOS R5G |Full details. With Specifications

Sharp is a Japanese brand well known for its televisions and laptops , but it's not the only thing they have in their catalog. The company also has some Android smartphones quite ... peculiar in design, one of the greatest exponents being the AQUOS R3 , which has not one, but two notches. Now the remote company that idea with the AQUOS R5G , a high-end terminal with two notches of different shape and high-end engine.
The device has been announced in Japan and, for the moment, there is no release date or price , but its specifications have been disclosed. We talked about a smartphone that, if launched soon, would be the first to mount a Snapdragon 865 . This will be accompanied by 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage and four rear cameras capable of recording in 8K.

Two notch, one above and one below

The Sharp Aquos R5g screen has two notches
We start with the design. In the back we have a huge module that houses four lenses that we will talk about later, the LED flash and a microphone, as well as the name of the range. It is a simple, smooth design with a holographic color finish like the one we already know from other terminals. On the right side are the lock and volume buttons and on the bottom the charging port. So far, without major news.
The peculiar thing is in the front, where we have a Pro IGZO screen (a Sharp technology that replaces LCDs) of 6.5 inches with 4K + resolution (3,168 x 1,440 pixels) compatible with Adobe RGB and Rich Color color space Technology Mobile, which adjusts the brightness of the scenes to, according to Sharp, "create a sense of realism." This is cut by two notches , one at the top, small and "U" shaped, and another below, with a more conventional format, where the fingerprint reader is.
Literally, it is as if the fingerprint reader gets inside the screen , cutting a few millimeters from the bottom area. The question remains of how applications will react to this provision, since this location is where the navigation bar is usually placed or where Android 10 gestures are usually made .

The latest from Qualcomm and four cameras

Sharp Aquos R5g Cameras
The design aside, the Sharp AQUOS R5G features the latest from the latest Qualcomm under its hood. We speak, of course, of the Snapdragon 865, an eight-core SoC at a maximum speed of 2.8 GHz which, according to Sharp, has 5G connectivity. Next to it, 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 of internal storage expandable with microSD cards up to 1 TB.
This batch of components gives Android 10 and 3,730 mAh battery life , although it is not mentioned that it is compatible with any fast charging system or that has wireless charging. What Sharp says is that Adobe Photoshop Express, a photo editor, will be preinstalled on the operating system. In terms of connectivity, what Sharp explains is that it has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, but the NFC is not mentioned.
Finally, you should review your photographic section. This consists of four lenses arranged as follows:
  • Ultra wide-angle 48 megapixel f / 2.9.
  • 12 megapixel telephoto f / 2.7.
  • 12 megapixel main sensor.
  • ToF to make depth measurements.
Interestingly, the sensor under the wide angle lens is the one with the highest resolution , something that is not common in the devices. According to Sharp, your AQUOS R5G is capable of recording video in 8K and has electronic correction of camera movement, what we know as EIS. The front camera, hidden in the upper notch, stays in 16 megapixels with a lens with f / 2.0 aperture.

Versions and price of Sharp AQUOS R5G

As we said, the device has been announced in Japan, but neither its price nor its release date has been revealed , neither for Japan nor for the international market if it comes to leave its native country. From what we have seen on the web, the AQUOS R5G will be, at a minimum, available in a 12/256 GB version in blue-purple, but we will update this text when you mark more information.
